Not only is Holiday Inn Potts Point a great base for city Vivid adventures, it also right in the heart of the newest Vivid precinct Vivid KX. Focusing around Kings Cross and Darlinghurst, for the 23 days of the city-wide celebration, the area will become a hub of performance art and creative culture.

Vivid Sydney Creative Director Ignatius Jones said: “For the first time, Kings Cross will be an exciting precinct that includes all Vivid Sydney pillars of light, music and ideas, called Vivid KX. It’s a wonderful mix of genres, theatre, performance, story-telling and light art, and it celebrates exactly what makes Kings Cross so special – diversity, creativity, equality and community.”

What we can’t wait for:

  • For the first time, the iconic Coca-Cola billboard will become a Vivid focal point. For each night of the festival, the sign will become a light show as well as showcasing the Characters of Kings Cross, a series black and white photographs by Katherine Williams.
  • Next door at the Kings Cross Hotel, the five-floor venue will be home to over 20 DJs across Vivid. Welcome to Kings Cross at the Kings Cross Hotel was a huge event in 2016 and promises to be even bigger this year and a party for the ages.
  • Taking a trip back to the 50s, 60s and 70s at World Bar for Hidden Sydney – The Glittering Mile. Sometimes glitzy and sometimes shady, this witty cabaret experience brings to life some of the iconic characters with an all-star cast.

Vivid Sydney celebrates the grit & glitter of Kings Cross with masses of music, cult films, mysteries and tales from the underbelly.
