Mothers Day Gift Ideas

Mother’s Day in Sydney
There’s no one in the world quite like Mum and you’re probably thinking of all the ways you can spoil her this Mother’s Day. Well there’s just over two weeks for you to come up with the greatest Mother’s Day gift ever to show her how much you love her (outshine your siblings and claim the title of favourite child).

This year, instead of your traditional Mother’s Day gifts like flowers, slippers, pyjamas, breakfast in bed and so on, why not treat Mum to a Sydney Mother’s Day experience that she’ll always treasure? We’ve put together some of the top things to do in Sydney to help you plan out the weekend to treat mum like a queen.

A Picnic in the Gardens
You don’t need to spend a fortune or hours planning in order to show mum a great time in Sydney. Something simple and easy like a picnic is a great way to spend the day as a family. After all isn’t it the thought that counts? The Royal Botanic Gardens in Sydney are only one stop on the train away and a short walk from Martin Place station. Entry to the Gardens is free and the views from the lovely lawns towards the Sydney Opera House & Harbour Bridge are an added bonus.

Mother’s Day Lunch by the Sea
You only have to travel 15 to 20 minutes to visit the iconic Sydney coastline from Bondi to Coogee. Why not treat mum to a smorgasbord of fresh seafood as you look out across the stunning backdrop of Coogee Beach at Bluesalt Restaurant. There’s plenty to do should you wish to spend some more time in the area. You can walk off lunch with a stroll along coastal paths from Coogee to Bondi and enjoy the spectacular views across the coastline as you explore the beaches, rock pools and parks along the way.

Spend the Day at Taronga Zoo
Is your Mum an animal lover? Yes? Then why not spend the day hanging out with over 4,000 animals from over 350 species? You can make a whole day of it as the trip there and back is an experience on its own.  The trip is just 12 minutes by ferry from Circular Quay or via a short bus trip from the city.  Providing mum isn’t afraid of heights then a ride on the zoo’s Sky Safari is a must. You’ll soar high above the zoo and look out over unbeatable views of Sydney Harbour, the Harbour Bridge and the Sydney Opera House.

Harbour Bridge Climb
Not for those faint-hearted Mums but it is definitely something to consider for an unbelievable and unforgettable experience in Sydney. Take Mum on the climb of her life, step by step up on the arches of the Harbour Bridge and when you reach the top boy are the iconic views over Sydney well worth it.

Mother’s Day Classic Sydney 2015
If you’re looking for something active you can do together with Mum as a family then the Mother’s Day Classic could be right up your alley. It’s all for a good cause as this annual event raises money for breast cancer research. Starting at The Domain this year’s classic is a 4km walk and run, a 7km walk and an 8km run. It’s a meaningful and fun way to spend time together especially if the cause hits close to home. You do need to register beforehand though so make sure you head over to their website for further details.

A Room with A View
Whether you’re travelling from hours or a few minutes away, why not make the weekend extra special and spoil mum rotten with an overnight stay in a room overlooking Sydney harbour? It would be the icing on the cake for a great Mother’s Day in Sydney. Book our Weekend Special package to enjoy a few perks of your own, including buffet breakfast for two.
