One of Australia’s largest annual events, the Sydney Royal Easter Show, kicks off on 26 March – 8 April at Sydney Olympic Park. From animal and rural experiences, food and wine, carnival rides and stalls, shopping and much more, there’s plenty to keep all ages entertained at the show this year.
The best way to experience the Royal Easter Show is to come prepared. To help you make the most of your day out we’ve highlighted a few must-dos and top things to see at the show.
1. The Showbag Pavilion
No visit to the Easter Show is complete with a trip to the Showbag Pavilion. With over 350 showbags on offer, you’re sure to find something to suit any age, taste and budget.
Our Tip: Check out the full list of showbags on offer for 2015 before you head to the show.
2. The Carnival
There will be over 100 rides and games on offer at this year’s Easter Show to cater to the kid in all of us. From adrenaline pumping rides to classic family games, there’s something for the whole family to enjoy. For the thrill-seekers we recommend heading straight to the Coca-Cola carnival. For those looking for something family friendly, be sure to check out the Kids Carnival.
Our Tip: Take on the rides before you take on lunch and dinner.
3. The Animals
Animal interactions are what the Royal Easter Show is famous for, and this year certainly won’t disappoint. Over 10,000 animals will be on site at the show, ranging from cattle, dogs, pigs, goats, horses, chickens and much more. The best way to see all the animal highlights at the show is to follow the paw prints of the animal walk, leading you on a journey through each of the animal pavilions.
Our Tip: Travelling with little ones? Visit the Farmyard Nursery to get up close to some friendly farm animals.
4. Food and Drink
Every year the Royal Easter Show delivers an amazing range of culinary experiences, from gourmet food and wine through to country style morning tea, alfresco dining, quick snacks and cool refreshments while you’re on the go. Food lovers can also enjoy a diverse range of talks, tastes and demonstrations sure to get their taste buds singing. Want to plan ahead? Check out the Easter Show Food Finder and map out all the stalls, stands and events that you won’t want to miss.
Our Tip: The Woolworths Fresh Food Dome is sure to be a highlight of this year’s festival, with plenty of fresh produce on display for you to admire and taste test.
